Medica offers a fascinating, disturbing, hopeful, and insightful look into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). If you are the least bit curious regarding the use of AI Technology as it may relate to the world of medicine, then MEDICA is definitely a good read opening the mind to a wide array of possibilities.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but the ideas presented in this book make a lot of sense. There's a definite social message the authors make clear and I appreciate its relevance. However it was an absolute just came out of hibernation bear to read! It isn't correctly formatted for the so line spacing, paragraphs and chapters were all out of whack. There were numerous editing errors in the writing itself and the dialogue between characters was frequently extremely stilted. It also ended so abruptly that I flicked through several repetitions of the table of contents following the last page (more formatting and editing errors) looking for the ending.
In spite of the technical issues involved, I fell into the story, cheering for the saves and worrying about the dastardly deeds employed by the mega bad guys. While a bit saccharine, it was worth the read just for the political commentary if nothing else. The authors are intelligent, idealistic but seasoned peeps with an interesting message even though the vehicle needs an overhaul. Now if I could just find the dang ending, I'd add stars to my rating....

Such a great story. All I could think of is, this is really happening. A frightening tale.
The Authors were accurate, as Medica is a book about possibilities. The authors pulled me into the depths of each character and their related story lines. It is profoundly scary to think that what is possible but then again, the "signs" are already here.....
Medica is an entertaining and complex book that really makes you think. The authors take a look at history and the future of AI and put it into an insightful thrilling novel. The short chapters propel the pace of this book making it hard to put down. One of my favorite modern fiction titles! It makes you wonder what our future holds.
